The Schluger-Ammons Study Club

  Award for Publications

The Schluger-Ammons Study Club has recently set a $1000 award for residents of the Grad Perio Program of the University of Washington in Seattle,WA. The goal of this initiative is to incentive the publication of papers of the future periodontists.

 

Criteria for application.

The prize can be given to:

1. A current UW Grad Student who is the primary author of  a paper accepted for publication on one of these peer-reviewed scientific journals:

a.    Journal of Periodontology

b.    Journal of Clinical Periodontology

c.    Periodontology 2000

d.    Journal of Periodontal Research

e. International Journal of Periodontology and      Restorative Dentistry

f.    Clinical Oral Implants Research

g.  International Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Implants

 

The paper can be in form of an original study, a review article, a case series or a case report. Editorials and Letters to the Editor are not acceptable.

 

The article can be written in collaboration with other authors and/or classmates.

Full-time teachers at the University of Washington cannot be co-authors.

The article has to be written during the residency and cannot be a study finished before the resident started the program.

 

The application has to be addressed to the President of the Schluger-Ammons Study Club and also to 2 board members. E-mail or letters are preferred. The application has to be received by the Board Members at least 1 week before the annual conference of the AAP. Graduates of the same year (summer session) are allowed to apply.

 

All the applications will be examined by the Board of the Schluger-Ammons Study Club. In case of multiple applications, the final decision will be made by the Board of the SASC. The decision is not contestable.

 

If no application is submitted in a year, the $1000 sum will build up for the following year award (thus becoming a $2000 award) and so on.

 

The award will be delivered at the meeting of the SASC during the AAP conference.

 

This award can be altered or discontinued as determined by the Board and members of the Club. 

The Schluger-Ammons Study Club is the non-profit organization of the Alumni of the Graduate Program in  Periodontics of the University of Washington, Seattle WA.
